New York: Sexual Harassment Prevention (core)
Full assigned module ~25 minutes. Track id: NY-CORE.
NY Labor Law §201-g minimum standards
New York requires all employers to provide annual interactive sexual harassment prevention training. Interactive means opportunities for feedback or questions—such as knowledge checks with explanations—not a passive video alone. Training must explain sexual harassment under New York guidance, give examples, describe federal and state remedies, and cover supervisor responsibilities.
Examples of unlawful sexual harassment
Examples include sexual comments, unwanted touching, quid pro quo propositions, hostile jokes, and online harassment. Harassment can occur without economic injury. Gender-based harassment is included.
Sample knowledge check
A coworker sends unwelcome sexual jokes in a team chat after being asked to stop. Best first step?
- Ignore it — incorrect.
- Document, support the target if safe, and report per policy — correct direction.
- Reply with a harsher joke — incorrect.
